About ConfidentDiner

ConfidentDiner exists because "gluten-free options available" is not an answer. If you manage a food allergy or coeliac disease, the question is never whether a menu lists an allergen-free dish — it is what the kitchen actually does: whether there is a dedicated fryer, whether prep is separated, whether staff are trained, and whether the restaurant will tell you any of that in writing.

So this directory records protocols, not impressions. Every listing is organised allergen by allergen — the FDA top nine plus gluten/coeliac — and every protocol claim carries the document it came from and the date we reviewed it. Where a restaurant has not documented something, the listing says so plainly and gives you the exact question to ask instead.

We never call a restaurant safe, and we never guarantee a dish. Kitchens change staff, suppliers, and menus without telling directories. What we can do is show you the best-documented evidence available, keep it dated, correct it in public when it is wrong, and make the phone call you make before booking a much shorter one.

Who runs it

ConfidentDiner is an independent directory run by a small publisher in New Jersey. It is not affiliated with any restaurant, allergen-certification company, or medical organisation, and nobody here gives medical advice.

The short version of our rules

We document protocols — we never certify safety. Every claim shows its source, its tier (Listed / Allergen menu documented / Protocol documented / Protocol documented + community corroborated), and when it was last confirmed.

Disclaimer

ConfidentDiner collects allergen and preparation information from restaurants’ published materials, from restaurants themselves, and from diners. Information is dated and sourced, but menus, ingredients, suppliers, staff, and kitchen practices change without notice, and cross-contact can occur in any non-dedicated kitchen. Nothing on this site is medical advice or a guarantee that any restaurant or dish is safe for any individual. Always tell the restaurant about your allergy, confirm current practices directly before ordering, and make your own decision with your medical professional’s guidance.
